CLAG updates
« on: November 19, 2012, 05:04:28 pm »
I like that the new CLAG plugin is keeping things lag free. However, I feel - and I think the vast majority of those who die lots or have autofarms will agree - the intervals between entity removal are too short. Is it possible to get this lengthened at all please, to say double time?
Goodbye.

Clag is glitching me by alot bro like whenever I destroy it makes a lagspike as if the blocks invisible. Clag also forced my to kill my chickens because it lost all the eggs.

How does a network administrator nerd greet people who come to his house? Welcome to 127.0.0.1.

ClearLag has reduced our CPU by over 2/3.

With almost 70k downloads, it's truly as legit as can be.

With that said, the features are endless; by default, the bare minimum you see.

As I told Idwlod_Mc, the config file alone is a harry potter book, and to change even the slightest time intervals or broadcast logging, I'm not even sure where to begin.

Unfortunately however, there are a few problems with it, as you mentioned one already.

It also sadly, removes paintings.

I've tried to see if WG can block the destruction with the flag, but it does not. It only makes the placement of any items in an item frame impossible - Even under the painting entity flag.

It's also happened an inconvenient death at the time of the floor cleanup can result in a permanent loss of items for the player. Another severe problem.

It's definitely on my to-do list to look into; more effort needed for a videogame keeps stacking up.

The rollback didn't help today's situation, either.

Anyways, thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I'm going to be very blunt here. You and Mike are running an MC server for the wrong reasons. Your running it because you want "fun". Well if you want to run a PUBLIC ACTIVE game; guess what... No fun... As you have seen administration and management of servers is basically a full time gig; it is why people that make them for fan clubs and what have you bring in another admin to do it for them. With that said after what just happened and THEN immediately after you log someone breaks in and murders all our mobs I am about ten seconds from quitting this server and being done with it. I'll frank... I initially liked this server and apalaude what you have tried to do with it but after the past few days I am at wits end here. I got so pi**ed 15 minutes ago I threw my headset into the wall... how is that fun... if I am getting that angry over a game I may as well stop playing becbecuase either I have a major problem or something is wrong...

The server is ultimately about fun.

Although I never do, I'm more than happy with the people who have it.
And anyone who ruins that, gets scolded; and reimbursements don't go unseen to the victim.

I'm constantly doing some kind of management either in-game or out of game.
We have Staff to take care of things like that myself and Mike have a hard time doing alone.

We can't hold everyone's hand here all of the time. It's a videogame, not a daycare.
Patience is key whenever things don't go as planned.

We have WG, everything can be protected.
We have CP, everything can be rolled back.
We have Staff, items and the missing can always be reimbursed and dealt with appropriately due to unfortunate happenings.

From a player's POV without power, trust me, I know how aggravating it can be to get griefed, killed, stolen from, or any kind of progress lost due to an unexpected outcome.
But like I said, it is only a game, there's never a need to get so upset.

That's why I reimburse playtimes, ranks, items, doing whatever it takes under necessary means to keep everyone content here.

I'll be blunt here now, too.

Frankly, I'm sick of the "I'm better than you" attitude. I've been doing this for quite some time.
Am I the best at it? No.
Will I ever be? No.
Do I make mistakes? Many.
Do I always fix them? Yes.
Am I human? Yes.

When you manage a server as successful, popular, and friendly as the BeardedCraft community; I'll be more than happy to take advice from you.

But until then,
We're not a business, we're a hobby to be enjoyed by for children, teens, and adults alike.

If you want to run a business, hit up the real world.

Have a fantastic day, Jhina.
